Pump Packing
You only need to carry one type of packing for both types of equipment. Slade 3300G can also be used for many other types of equipment like strainers, agitators, mixers, etc.
Made with Expanded Graphite; it has excellent self-lubricating properties!
As such, there is no need for flushing to cool or lubricate the packing and shaft of the pump when handling clean liquid. No Flushing means No Leakage!
A leak-free operation will extend the life span of the shaft and shaft sleeve.
No Need for Lantern Ring.
Since cooling or flushing is not typically required when using SLADE Packing, there is no need for lantern rings.
With no lantern ring, there is no need for flushing. When there is no flushing, there is nothing to leak!
This eliminates the concern for the lantern rings being adjusted out of position, flush water ports becoming plugged, or sleeve wear caused by the corrosive nature of highly oxygenated water or hardened sleeves.
Leak-free operation is completely possible for clean liquids. Below are clean water pumps that are operating with No Lantern Ring and No Flushing support system.
It is saving the operators monies and valuable maintenance time.
This design of 3300G is also suitable for use in mildly abrasive liquids, it is also possible to go non-flush and non-leak operations too.
A mild flush may be needed at times for more abrasive services. Consult us for an evaluation.
Valve Packing
Expanded Graphite is an excellent sealing material. Expanded Graphite has good impermeability.
This means that gases and liquids will not be able to pass through it! This is key to being able to seal to below 50 PPM.
As such it is essential that for very demanding applications like low emission controls, the packing must be made of high purity nuclear grade expanded graphite. This also explains why in API 624 valve testing, it requires that the packing installed in the valve test must be made of expanded graphite.
SLADE Pump and Valve Packing is made of 80% High Purity 99.26% Nuclear Grade Expanded Graphite and 20% structural grade carbon fibers.
SLADE has proven to seal below 50 ppm for Low Emission Controls applications with the leading oil refiners.
The 3300G Valve Packing can be used where the possibility of extrusion and or abrasion is expected without any need of a bullring.
